So, as you know, I love to write. I could do it all day, and I often do (a big edit to get stuck into and an equally big bar of Fruit and Nut to go with it can be paradise!). But sometimes when I’m writing, I get a bit stuck, or find myself staring at the page or screen, with nothing getting past my eyes and into my brain. That’s when it’s time to… put down that pen! Sometimes the best way to move ON with your writing is to switch OFF from it for a while. Here are my four fave ways to do just that. When I go back to my desk afterwards, I find myself refreshed and inspired.
Get Moving! – Walking, yoga, swimming, dancing, rock climbing (no, I’m not into that but you might be!). Anything that gets your body moving is great for reviving your mind, too.
Get Inspired! – Sometimes the best thing you can do is put down your own writing for a while and read, read, read (and watch, watch, watch and listen, listen, listen, too!). Revisiting fave books, movies and tunes, and finding new ones to love, will get you all fired up and ready to crack on with your own mini-masterpiece in no time!
Phone a Friend! – A chat, a laugh, a good sharing session – these all take you out of yourself and give your brain a well-earned break.
